Like to know folks opinion on whether david longwell has a future st the club. Can we really afford to keep him with his company car or do we give the youth set up to teale and Thompson

one of the hardest working guys at the Club.

would be difficult to replace IMHO but could well move on to progress.

more than capable of a good English Championship gig in youth development.

And the company car is part of sponsorship and does not cost the Club other than fuel....I imagine his mpg is better that Teale Bentley. .if he still has it...though Thomos mini is probably alright

Yep. Works hard But when it cones down to money. Is he a luxury already binned paul mathers

When you go durn a league you usually need to combine roles. Like goalkeeping coach. And older players taking the u20s. To save money wonder if we could give the role to teale or thomo. Abd they do both jobs. We'll also have to sign a keeper that can combine both playing and coaching

Can't believe some folk are still doubting Davie Longwell,

I know for a "FACT" he was offered a top post with the Everton youth academy, but turned

it down to become GT's number 2...

We'll do well to hold on to DL, I guarantee it, he'll go on to much bigger things than head of

youth at St Mirren...

That depends on wither he wants to stay or not.

Longwell is a very good coach there isn't much doubt about that

He has took other teams cast offs and made them into regular first team players.

The scouting system needs looked at though if we want players going for decent money especially forward players

Until Kenny mclean, the last time we earned real big transfer fees was mcnamee & obrien, 16 years ago.

Longwell has been in charge most of that time since.

We need a clear out and a proper youth and scouting set uo

How many other teams can say they have 6 or 7 of their youth academy playing in the first team every week, the emergence of these players is the only positive we can take from this season, we can hardly blame these boys for getting us relegated, they've come in and done a job when the truth is they probably shouldn't of been used as much as they have been this season.

is that David Longwells fault??? Don't think so, if anyone is to blame it's the Diddy who signed all the duds that we've seen try and fail in a st mirren jersey this season.

Kenny McLean, where did he come from? Released from pro youth and back playing boys club football down the public parks, who went out and brought him to the club? David Longwel, John McGinn, 18 year old who bossed a 12 million pound Victor wanyama in the league cup final, where did he come from? Part of the youth academy Under David Longwells guidance since he was 8 years old. Jason Naismith and Shaun kelly last season, carrying it into this season and now Stevie Mallan and Jack Baird this season,

With the exception of hearts last season there is not 1 other team in scotland who can say they are producing as many young players as St mirren are, any1 wanting shot of David Longwell really must be daft, the guy would walk into another job within days of he were to leave St mirren.

Yes, we need a scouting system but anyone who says that David Longwell hasn't produced must be deranged. It takes a number of years to bring players through a youth system and we are just starting to see the benefits of the last few years. Add a good scouting system and we'll be good for years to come. If young players know they are coming to a team where they'll get a chance then the will come. Good news for the future.

This.

Under Gus the youngsters didn't expect to get a bench place let alone a start. Now we have a track record of letting the young guns loose talented youngsters, and more importantly, those who mentor them, are more likely to lean towards Saints due to this and the facilities at their disposal.

And they relegated us...

What utter crap.

What great youngsters didn't get their chance under gus but subsequently went on to make a name for themselves?

Stephen mcginn & David Barron both became regulars under gus.

When we won the first division under gus we had guys like charlie Adam, kirk broadfoot & Chris smith all playing regularly
