    9. St.Mirren For Sale

The majority shareholding in the club was up for sale for 7 years! Eventually the shareholding was purchased by Gordon Scott and SMiSA in July 2016 with almost 1300 supporters contributing to the successful bid.

This forum is now really just an archive of some of the threads that took place in that 7 year period.  ps; Anyone mentions the Argies they get banned.

    • If you mean Trevor Carson is the very good goalie we released , you are aware there were extenuating circumstances behind that move that forced the clubs hand ? He wasn’t simply released . if one of the 2 good defenders is Ryan Strain - he was simply out of contract and exercised his right to move. He wasn’t released . Players are allowed to do that and we can’t stop them.  If the other defender is Declan Gallagher - he wasn’t released , he was sold and moved back to his home city at his request . Now , if I’ve got this wrong and these are not the players you’re alluding to - I apologise . Maybe if that’s the case you might have been better naming these players for the avoidance of doubt .
    • It's not just prospects.  While we have unearthed very good pros in the last few years, several have either complained about family ties or stuff outside football in order to get released.  2 very good defenders and a very good goalie have ended up on Tayside and James Bolton is back in the north of England.  All were contracted for longer periods and were simply released, yet we pay a fee for players who spend more time in treatment than on the team sheet and they generally just see out their contracts (or in some cases have them extended with no prior evidence of a return) without making the expected contribution.  Our signing failure rate is high and there are a few ex players in the premiership we really could do with just now.
