    • Same story trotted out every year for the last couple of years. I wonder when our "support" will start to see we're capable of being a regular top 6 side while the manager is at the helm?
    • I have been in businesses that have relied on "sweating the assets" and it can bring benefits in the short term, it can also create problems.  The chances of assets failing because they are being worked to the max with minimal investment rates (often below the depreciation rate) increase.  I really wish we were operating in a situation where the income increased due to sustainable growth in the assets and efficiency.  Several of the problems we have seen in the last decade arise from Gilmour's reluctance to invest in the club's off-field earning potential and infrastructure that boosts efficiency such as on-site renewables and things like rain-water harvesting which would have seriously reduced outgoings while boosting our green credentials.  In effect, Gilmour sweated the assets and we stagnated. While initiatives such as the re-purposing of the 1877 club facilities can generate income in the 10s of thousands, it would take dozens of these to make enough money to fund a step-change in earnings that would be meaningful in terms of on-field success.  Every little helps and is most welcome, lets just remember that being top 6 next year is probably going to be considerably harder than it has been in the last three seasons with a resurgent Hibs & Aberdeen, the possibility of Utd riding the crest of a wave into next season, the possibility that Hearts will eventually get it right and the potential challenges from Dundee and Falkirk.  An unexpected payday in transfer fees would help in the short term, in the long term we are really talking about extracting more revenue from visiting supports and growing both the fan base (which will happen with continued success) and the capability to house a bigger home support.
