with all the recent late winners, I'd say that one big failing from early season has been rectified and that is fitness. Having the stamina to stick it to the opposition late in almost any game is a proper weapon. I got the impression that some players did not report back in the best shape after the close season, either mentally or physically, and like a lot of fans I worried that some of the new signings were a step down. Most of them have improved though, especially Balcombe who was simply not nearly ready for the season, and some are better than i thought they would be. The failure rate of signings is still too high for a club our size so thank heavens for the proper talent coming through to the first team now. Maybe wee Fraser can come back to add some skill with the ball at his feet as we still need to make the ball stick up front for longer to take some pressure off the midfield & defence.
The squad seems fitter and happier since Brian Kerr stepped up, that might be a coincidence but it would be unfair not to offer him some credit.
I hope we can keep this group together through the transfer window and any cash that is available might just provide the extra we need for a decent cup run and a top 4 finish.
