St Mirren captain Mark O'Hara recently admitted that the scenes following their injury-time win over Aberdeen were the most exhilarating he has ever experienced.
Two injury-time goals, a penalty converted by O'Hara and a strike from Toyosi Olusanya, saw the Buddies secure all three points and move up to fourth in the table. St Mirren are quickly becoming one of the most sought-after teams for Premiership streams in the division.
That victory has set them up nicely for their upcoming trip to Kilmarnock this weekend. O’Hara, who had previously missed from 12 yards this term, managed to keep his cool this time.
St Mirren captain, Mark O'Hara, said:
“They were the biggest scenes I’ve ever been involved with in my career. The atmosphere in the dressing room was amazing and Kwon was singing again! That seems to bring us a bit of luck."
“What a win it was. It was very special and showed the togetherness of the squad and the fans."
St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson believes that one of their key strengths lies in their depth. According to him, they have enough quality players that two Buddies teams could compete in the Premiership.
As we approach the business end of the season, Robinson emphasizes that everyone needs to stand up and be counted – with recent comebacks against Ross County and Aberdeen proving just how crucial every player is.
In particular, against Ross County - Jonah Ayunga, Keanu Baccus and Olusanya combined off the bench to rescue a 1-1 draw thanks to Olusanya’s late goal at Dingwall.
Last weekend saw another impressive comeback when Olusanya emerged off the bench once again to win a penalty, converted by fellow substitute O’Hara. Moments later another replacement Conor McMenamin fired in the cross which led to Olusanya sealing that victory over Aberdeen.
As St Mirren gear up for their crunch trip to Kilmarnock, the team's morale is undoubtedly high. With a strong squad and a series of impressive performances behind them, they are well-positioned to continue their successful run.
